• 07:00 — Departure from Almaty

  • We pick you up right from your hotel or apartment doors and head out of the city. This early start allows us to beat the morning traffic and maximizes your time at the destination. The route runs north, passing by the Kapchagay Reservoir and crossing picturesque steppes and scenic mountain passes.

• 11:00 — Arrival at Basshi Village

  • We arrive at the central headquarters of the Altyn-Emel National Nature Park—the largest nature reserve in the region and a recognized UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, we complete a quick registration process and obtain our official park entry permits.

• 11:30 — Off-Road Drive to the Singing Barkhan

  • We head deep into the protected desert steppe. Keep a close watch on the surroundings along the way—this section of the national park offers a very high probability of spotting rare, endangered wildlife listed in the Red Book, such as kulans (wild asses), goitered gazelles, or Przewalski's horses.

• Climbing the Dune and Free Time

  • Discover one of the primary natural wonders of Kazakhstan. The Singing Barkhan is a massive sand dune up to 3 km long and roughly 150 meters high, which uniquely formed in the middle of a rocky desert and has remained stationary for thousands of years despite the winds. We will climb to its crest, which rewards you with stunning panoramic views of the Ili River valley and the purple-hued Katutau Mountains. In dry and windy weather, you will be able to experience the magic of the singing barkhan—hearing its famous deep, low drone that sounds like a pipe organ.

• 14:00 — Lunch / Picnic

  • We arrange a hearty lunch or outdoor picnic at a specially designated rest area, where you can relax, share your impressions, and unwind.

• 16:00 — Return Drive to Almaty

  • We board the vehicle and begin our journey back. The drive offers a comfortable opportunity to rest, look through your photos, and nap after an active trek through the desert sands.

• 20:30 — Arrival in the City

  • We return to Almaty and deliver you directly back to your hotel or apartment doors
